late honeymoon in September- where to go

Can anyone recommend a short haul travel destination for some week long holiday in September?

I'll have about £750 per person, but happy to spend more as it's our last childfree trip. We're both pale Celtic people who don't do well in the sun...and love history/ruins etc

Happy to book last minute, but need somewhere where a car isn't essential.
As a further limiting factor, I'll be 5 months pregnant.
I'm thinking Malta, but like the look of Santorini. Unfunded on self catering or hotel, so long as there's nice places to eat within walking distance.

what about Sorrento?

Santorini is beautiful but there's a LOT of steps so you may want to avoid it if you're 5 months pregnant! Or get a donkey.

obviously you will get sun, but early-mid September is a beautiful time in Greece and not too hot. Slap on the factor 50 of course.

how about Rhodes? Town is stuffed with history and places to eat, short transfer.

Venice, Florence, Rome? Italy is perfect in September.

Calvi in Corsica. Direct flights from Stansted, airport is a short taxi ride away and once you're there you are walking distance from everything. Stunning harbour, ancient citadel, gorgeous beach, loads of restaurants, winding streets etc. We honeymooned there ten years ago, in September, weather was perfect :) We stayed at Hotel le Magnolia but there's no shortage of accommodation options.

Chania, a town on Crete is meant to be very nice and historical.
What about the Italian lakes?

Istanbul!

Malta sounds good! Has sun + also lots of history and ruins.

Santorini is amazing but is true about the steps.

I immediately thought Italy. So much to see and do there. You could do a combination of some of the following:

Rome
Florence
Milan
Verona
Lake Como
Venice
Naples
Capri
Amalfi
Sicily

Thanks everryone, some cracking ideas there! I'd forgotten that Santorini was hilly, despite pics of it looking v v hilly!

I'm kind of thinking Scandinavia might work as well, it's the only time I won't be upset by booze prices there....

Turkey or greece

I second Corsica. Amazing food & gorgeous scenery.
