Cuba!

Hi,
I have just joined mums net as I have found some of the topics so useful to me. I would like to start my first thread on a happy light note! I am travelling to Cuba on 14th July, staying at Parque Central Havana, then Blau Varadero. As part of our group we have four older teenagers....should be fun. Has anyone been to either of these hotels.? Or booked any tours in Havana? I can't wait!

We visited the Cigar factory and bribed the guard to let us go to the top of the Bacardi building . The only organised thing we did in Havana was an evening at Club Tropicana - which was amazing. From Varadero we went to see the dolphin show, did a trip to the coral reef, and went to a ranch.

Didn't stay in either hotel. In Havana we did tropicana too. Also visit the ambos mundos hotel which was hemingway's first residence. Didn't have teenagers with us but from Varadero there was a kind of mini jungle trek. It was an overnight trip. First Choice used to call it the rambo tour they might like that. Look at some of the boat trips too.

I stayed at different hotels but during my stay in Havana did go on an organized trip called The Hemingway tour. The tour started with lots of the main sights in the town and lots of history etc and then moved out to the suburbs and included a visit to his house and the fishing village that was connected to The Old Man and the Sea. Lots of cocktails and lunch was included. I think all ages would have enjoyed the trip. Our DC were only 6 and 8 but liked having the non alcohol cocktails made for them and they each had a cheap camera and took a lot of very random photos. We also did a lot of exploring on our own too. Havana is a fascinating place. Have a great trip.

Thank you everyone. We will also be going to Tropicana, and swimming with the dolphins. The Hemingway tour sounds good too.
