Moving to Edinburgh

Hi!
New to this....looking for some advice please. We are thinking about moving to Edinburgh from York. I am originally from Edinburgh but haven't lived there for 15 years so my knowledge is limited. We are looking for the best place to live! We currently live in a village outside York with a school, pub, shop and active community and we would like to replicate that. Need to be able to commute to Edin within an hour for work. Thanks! :0)

Have a look at Peebles, it's lovely Smile

Nice town, beautiful parks, walks, forests, few pubs, restaurants, individual shops, friendly people

I'd recommend Joppa next to Portobello. I grew up there and absolutely love the area. It is right next to the beautiful beach and promenade, has local shops, pubs, friendly people and only takes about 30 minutes to get into town in rush hour. Also close to coastal areas just outside Edinburgh like North Berwick which is a lovely drive on a nice day. Or somewhere like Morningside is a nice area too that is a bit closer to the centre but can be a little bit more pricey i think.

Thanks ladies I have fond memories of peebles as a child so might be worth taking a closer look. I hadn't thought about Joppa will have a look. I love North Berwick and that would be my ideal but I think it may be slightly too far as OH needs to get to airport and train station quite regularly. Also we will prob be priced out of there! Smile
