Best Download or CD to learn holiday Italian?

Can anyone recommend a good CD/audiobook I can listen to in the car so as to learn some basic holiday Italian?

I am a complete beginner and I would like something pretty basic. (As in, I don't expect to close any business deals while I am there but I might well want to buy 300g of cheese.)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Check out Michel Thomas. I think I he does Italian along with all the others. He builds vocab as you go and doesn't start off with the hello, how are you as you would expect. His premise is don't remember, don't take notes And if you can't learn it, you have a bad teacher

Download some beginner's podcasts from iTunes. They are all free.

Thanks, HRN, the Michel Thomas ones look really interesting and not too bogged down with grammar. I think I will give them a go.

I was just a bit overwhelmed by how many podcasts there seemed to be, Sangria. Knowing me, I would download hundreds and then not really listen to any of them properly!

Yes, that's true. I used a very good Spanish one to brush up, but it was recommended to me by someone else.

Babbel is a good online language provider. My student who is about to go to Spain for a month as an absolute beginner has joined up for a few weeks to get some basics in.

This may be too late for you now, but I'd like to recommend Earworms. I've used both the beginners Italian and Spanish to learn the basics before holidays and they're really great!
