South of France - 'nice' hotel or villa near beach

I'm going round in circles here! Trying to book something up for August, and really struggling. Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations, or companies they have previously used.

You are leaving it quite late for the South of France. What sort of budget do you have?

I know!!! I honestly don't know - we were looking at around £5K for the four of us, including flights for a decent hotel in Italy/Greece/France. Then the one we decided on has sold out (Tripadvisor awards were out yesterday!), so we're back to square one.

We want a 'chilling' holiday, so lovely accommodation with a pool, and preferably near a beach. If it was a hotel, a gym would be pretty essential - not for me though!

If you have any ideas, I'd be really grateful.

For one week or 2?

Did you find something as I am interested to find something similiar?

I stayed at the Sofitel in Marseille for a few nights before a cruise and really enjoyed the hotel.

It's just for one week Porto - but we have now booked a hotel in the Canary Islands. DH is very keen on going to the South of France at some point, so maybe we should plan ahead for next year.

I'll have a look at the Sofitel Chicken - stayed in their New York hotel, and loved it! Good luck ami - I've struggled on this one!
