can i just ask is your app in liverpool? i've had a nightmare trying to get through to liverpool, was waiting 2 and a half hours yesterday and still didnt get through i gave up. i called durham but they said i need to speak to liverpool directly?

Obrienxo · 20/06/2014 12:13

Well my passport has been with Liverpool over 2 weeks but I want to upgrade to make sure I get it on time, however I cannot get through to Liverpool only Durham but they won't help. But don't call the 0800 number as I have called repeatedly but haven't got a call back from Liverpool. I am scared I will have to cancel my travel or pay extra to go the week later. I am only 18 years old and want to go on y holiday yet they make it so hard. They expect is all to upgrade to make sure we get it on time but how can we if we can't get through, it is pathetic! How have you got on with it all?

yeah i completely agree, it's physically impossible to get through to them from what i have experienced but with durham you get through within 5-10 mins. from what i have been reading from the other posts that you can't upgrade until they have had your application for 3 weeks. when is it you travel?

mine is slightly different it's my partners first ever passport so takes slightly longer and we don't have the option to fast track and you need to go for an interview, but i have called 0300 numerous times which yeah are useless and spoke to liverpool once who said theres nothing we can do simply need to wait until we receive a letter inviting him to an interview. we fly 2nd july but are considering moving our dates as well but theres still a chance it might not even arrive for the week after were due to go. its all a bit of a worry for us we sent our app through check and send on 12th may but if yours is a renewal i'd try not to worry too much as they seem to be being processed a bit quicker and if u have to fast track then that may be safest option, i know its expensive but i'd go for that if possible but maybe don't ring liverpool until 3 weeks as I don't think they'll let you fast track until then.

Obrienxo · 20/06/2014 12:29

Yes mine is only a renewal, sent it off with the post office check and send on the 4th June so plenty of time however it took a week for Liverpool to recieve it which is bang out of order. We fly on the 3rd July but have to wait until the 3 weeks is us for fast track however that is leaving it too long, I am trying to fast track but I just find them completely hopeless. I really hope I get it in time, do you have anymore advice for me. I hope you get yours in time too :)

yeah a week to receive, how does it take that long especially through check and send? my only other advise would be actually going down to liverpool in person and seeing if they can fast track it for you then. i know also you can pay for a premium service which takes 1 day but that is more expsensive but if you're desperate its worth it! also if your passport is not with you by a week before your holiday, they will fast track your application for free. i know you might not want to wait until a week before but i know its a service that they offer. i think the 0300 2220000 number can discuss that with you as well i dont think it has to be liverpool. :)

Obrienxo · 20/06/2014 12:39

I have tried to apply for both the fast track and the premium service however I cannot speak to the Liverpool office to do so as I never recieve a phone call back after multiple times of them saying they have sent an email. I think I will have to book my holiday for a week later.

oh right so the 0300 cant let you fast track there? if its possible i would go down to liverpool and you can speak to someone there. but yeah im desperately trying to think of another way to get through to liverpool because its not possible to wait on hold that long. i will let you if i find anything out. is it going to cost you a lot to amend your holiday date?

Obrienxo · 20/06/2014 12:56

Thanks so much. The women where I booked my holiday said there is a cost and she will find it out for me, and if I don't have it back by a week today, she will do it for me. Hope I've helped.

yeah i would find out you never know it might not be that much to change the dates. i found out mine would be about 200 pounds but that's because our hotel only has dearer rooms available. best of luck to you! :)

Obrienxo

From my understanding you cannot do the premium or fast track once you have submitted an application as that would mean you have two applications which is not allowed. It takes a full week to cancel one too so the passport office usually doesn't advise canceling and re submitting one day for example. It took me 3 weeks to get a fast track appointment at liverpool a month ago as so busy.

You can "upgrade" an existing application but they won't do it until 3 weeks as they cover themselves by saying use a different service if needed before then.

None of the offices will fast tack at all until it's passed security checks. I think most renewals at liverpool are coming in on time though. Most of the ones delayed are first time adults, kids and people who missed something off/didn't inc all supporting documents etc their form from what I've read.

jamtoast12 · 20/06/2014 21:58

The free fast track was only applicable to those travelling within the week stated which I believe is up now but do clarify as I'm not 100% on that! It is worth going down as they do chat to you but they won't guarantee you a passport....they told my mate last week that lots have missed travel as, even though it had been over 3 weeks, they simply can't fast track forms that haven't been through security.

Not trying to be negative but important to have all the info.

Janjanmama · 20/06/2014 23:57

From my understanding 99.99% of the backlogs in Liverpool are overseas applications. You can tell from the leaked photos in The Guardian. Don't know why it takes so long as mine is only a simple 3rd renewal with all supporting documents included. One thing quite sure, from the posts here, is they proceed the local app as priority because for those abroad cannot go there and complain in person. They can simply leave them al

Janjanmama · 20/06/2014 23:57

leave these people alone!

Obrienxo · 22/06/2014 11:38

I have been given a call off them and been given a number to ring to fast track my application as the Liverpool office cannot do it, you have to ring the number
