Got 3 days at the end of portugal holiday - Faro?

Hello. We have three days at the end of our summer holiday before we fly home from Faro, Portugal. Does anyone have any info/advice/recommendations about Faro? Would it be somewhere that you would spend those three days, or are we better off getting more accommodation near to where we are staying (Lagos). Is Faro a good city break destination, or just an airport city?

I have been only once. I remember there being an old part to town, we had coffee in a cafe Simone de Beavoir used to frequent
I really like Faro, but I'm not sure about three days there - maybe try their tourist board to see what else there is to do.

I'd find somewhere on the west coast and take advantage of the fantastic beaches. It will only be 1 1/2 hours drive back to Faro on the day of your flight. I don't know Faro, but I don't think hardly anyone goes to Portugal for the town / architecture. They go for the amazing beaches and possibly golf.

Try here for very nice B & B accommodation just outside Lagos.

Try Tavira, lovely little town, gorgeous, unbelievable beach that you can get to by ferry (small and cheap) or miniature train! We've had a couple of great holidays there. Much, much nicer than Faro. Not much further on either.

Thanks for the tips. Decided against Faro and now staying a bit up the coast from Lagos for the last bit - can't wait!!
