Hi we are going to Croatia next week with an 8 month old and I have lots of questions:

  • is the tap water safe to boil for a baby to drink?
  • how do you take cooled booked water on the plane for the baby when the limit is 100ml? I understand that babies can't drink bottled mineral water?
  • is there an insect repellant suitable for babies?
  • how do you manage taxi journeys without a baby seat?
  • can you request a baby seat with car hire in Croatia?
Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks :-)

Evian is fine for babies. At 8 months, could you order and take cartons with you - you can get them airside at the airport. Or, ask a cafe in the airport to fill several bottles with hot water which you can then take onboard. You won't need many as the flight is short.

Tap water is fine in Croatia (do you need to boil water for an 8 month old?!).

The flight is less than two hours. I don't think you'll need more than 100ml of water, if you've got a some milk cartons as well. If you do need the water just get some bottled water, it'll be fine as a one off.

You probably won't need insect repellent.

I don't know about the car seat issue.

Take cartons of milk on plane

Water is fine to boil

I would take car seat From home. You can take x2 pieces of baby luggage ie pram/ car seat/ travel cot for free anyway

Take a car seat with you. We had an awful experience in a country we speak the language and it took over an hour to actually get a car seat we deemed safe. And it was with a well-known agency with written confirmation and a phone call confirmation with the particular hire station the day before.
