Thinking of booking a late summer holiday here - in August. Is it too windy - it appeals to us because its on the beach- but does anyone use it?

DS is 4 and DD is 4 months do neither will be strong swimmers

Thanks

Ah! Clapham Sur Mer! We've been twice. Last year with one year old twins and this year with, er, two year old twins.

It's bloomin' brilliant. The wind is just about the only drawback but actually for ours we found it took the edge off the heat as otherwise I think it would have been too much. It builds up during the day when it's a sea breeze, so it means evenings can be a little chilly ie you have to wear a cardigan if you're dining late al fresco. But really not a major issue. I know others might disagree.

The beach is lovely and they have a nice lounging area there and lots of watersports, but it's really more for grown up kitesurfing etc. The water is freezing, and the waves can get quite high. There's a big pool with a toddler pool and a sandpit area just by the beach so most people hang out there.

I really really REALLY recommend it. Here's my latest review on Tripadvisor and then there's a link at the bottom to my first one, and then also a blog post I did about it. Just beware Faro airport. It really is a bit of a dive.
