Palma airport with a one year old menace / baby

Hi, we are traveling to Majorca next week with a one year old who has recently become a complete menace. I live in fear of the flight, and now I'm hearing horror stories about the airport. Has anyone been there recently? Am I going to have to carry her through a never ending airport or do the buggys normally get left by the plane door? Are the queues for immigration visible from space and could I invade a country in the time it will take me to get my hire car??? Please reassure me. The menace won't sleep outside her bed which means that by the time we get there she will be over tired and a horror!

Get a boba 4g sling. Put 1 year old in sling on back. Don't let down if being a menace! The boba has toddler feet straps so will last until 3/4 years if needed.

I've never had pram back at plane door, and we have flown virtually every month last 4 years

Yep, have a sling but she's heavy and I find it very hard to carry her in it any length of time. It will be fine if airport not manic, but bad if it is, hence the request for Palma specific info if anyone can help!

Palma is like any other airport. Not super busy, but busy enough. Last time I did Palma I had ds2 12 weeks in sling, and ds1 18 months walking. Had dh been there also would have put both in slings.

Hire car using Avis and get it delivered to door

What type of sling do you have? Ds1 is now 4 but still fits in sling on back and I could carry If needed. He's about 16kg and I'm 8 stone

Palma airport is fine - nice and clean, you move through it easily enough, friendly staff. I wouldn't ever have considered it the stuff of nightmares. Naples Airport is the stuff of nightmares.

BeanCalledPickle · 14/06/2014 20:34

It's more than I'm fairly recently post surgery so carrying her is a bit of an issue.

The hire car bit is fine once you've got past the desk queues (which were long) - the actual finding/collection of the car is easy.

I haven't been there for years, but we often went to Majorca when our DC were small. They certainly used to have small trollies with baby seats that you could pick up at the gate, and use in the airport, until you got your buggy back.

I have had horrible delays on the way home, at Palma. Make sure you have plenty of food, nappies and toys in your hand luggage, just in case. You will have to buy drinks airside, these days.

I was there last week. On the way into majorca it's fine the luggage takes forever but you could sort out hire car while you wait.

On way back it was a bit crap, 30 minutes to check in and 30+ At security and it was hotter than hell. After security it was fine but make sure you check boards as they don't call your flight out. We were using an app that told us the gate before the airport did.

There is a subway, McDonald's and BK if you want to eat and plenty if shops selling water. With jet 2 people just left buggy at bottom if steps and they got put into
Hold x

I have been with 2 small dc's, it's not bad at all, buggies come out 1st on the moving luggage thingy so you'll be able to strap her on whilst ur waiting for your cases, things are never as bad as you imagine they are going to be and will be worth it for your holiday Smile
