Beach holiday flying into Barcelona El Prat

Seen a great cheap flight in August to the above airport. Where would be good for a weeks beachy holiday, preferably staying in an apartment without a hire car. We'd be doing it on a shoestring budget, up to 700 for the weeks accomodation but ideally less.

It is for me, dh and ds, 2.

I did this last May with my teen DS.

We had flights to BCN - and I booked a hotel in Calella for 5nights. it was extremely good value.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't great- so we didn't really do much beachy stuff- but it was still nice to be elsewhere.

Any of the resorts up that coast will be ideal for you.

At the airport, once you get your luggage then exit towards the train station. From there take the train into Barcelona Sants (I think, it was) then the train which goes up the coast. I did research it first so that I knew which train number to look for.

There are many resorts on that line out of Barcelona - some you willhave heard of, some you perhaps won't.

Calella was nice. I think it gets quite lively in high season, but not totally crazy. Lots of shops, a market, lovely long beaches.

I believe there is a shuttle bus option either, but the train works fine. You can go into Barcelona for day trips easily too. It is a few euros.

Sorry, I can't remember more.

Have a look on Trip Advisor forum page for Catalonia. You will find all the information required on transportation and accommodation.

Very useful.
