France - Recommendations for a beach holiday?

Easyjet have a sale on flights and france is coming up cheaper than Spain or Greece. We like France - we went to Nice before and really liked it. TBH we would just go back there except that we have been before and fancy something different. The flight time is short and we have a 4 year old.

We cant hire a car, but we dont mind travelling short distances by train. So, any recommendations for a beachy place in france, thats not too remote?

Thankyou Smile

Hi, Sete is nice, a short trip down the coast by train from Montpelier, we went there last summer. However it is mainly French holidaymakers there so not much good if you want British pubs etc but presumably you don't if you liked Nice?

We don't really go to pubs. We liked Nice for the restaurants and market. Although that was pre-family so the pebble beach was bearable. Will check out Sete, thankyou!

hi we have just returned from a cruise that called in at La Rochelle.
It was really pretty with some history, lots of pavement cafes, a big wheel and the beaches looked nice (but we did other things)

We stayed at Sainte Maxime near St Tropez a few times. Nice beach, good sized town and easy water taxi to St Tropez if you fancy a bit of glamour!!

La rochelle area is lovely - we went a couple of years ago with two young children and had a fantastic time. The are two lovely islands nearby - ile de re and ile d'oleron which have beautiful beaches. If I remember there are a few budget airlines who have flights to airports in that region. Oh and there is a really good aquarium in la rochelle which the children loved.
