Passport delay, Emergency Passport for Turkey, but what visa ?

Hi,

We are an expat family living in the Netherlands. Unfortunately our passport is seriously stuck in Durham passport office for 5 weeks now and we are travelling in 9 days to Turkey. The British Consulate has offered to issue an Emergency Travel Document however the Turkish consulate cannot confirm if an tourist visa can be issued. Has anyone gone to Turkey recently with a UK Emergency Travel Document, and if so how was the visa managed ?

thanks

You can still get a visa on arrival at Turkish airports so just do it that way. It will cost £20 per person as against £12 online but you can't do it online without a passport number.

Thanks Sootica,
Can you confirm if this applies for Emergency Travel Documents also ?

You need to read this:-

Thanks yes I read this, however, I am having difficulty confirming this with the Turkish Consulate. Technically it is accepted, but the Turkish consulate web page states that it may take 60 days or more to process a visa for a Travel Document. When I contacted them they did not know, even the local British Consulate here has tried to contact the Turkish Consulate directly and they are unable to confirm !

I am very interested to learn of anyone else who has travelled to Turkey on an Emergency Travel Document and what really happened.
