What linen do you take if you don't hire? (and is there anything else I need?)

We will be flying to Lake Garda in August - so temps about 28 degrees. Altomincio Holiday park in a mobile home. V excited as not been to Europe for a decade!

I refuse to hire linen so I'm going to take it with us and We all have 23kg baggage so should be fine.

I was going to take each of us a duvet cover (not to put a duvet in - but because I thought just a sheet on top would feel a bit insubstantial)
Then an undersheet each. Maybe some disposable mattress protectors (like the pampers ones) in case of child accident. And then each a towel and a swim towel.

I'm not sure if this is a good idea, or if there's anything else I need to think about to bring? We will have air con.

Pillow cases.
Tea towels.

I like a hand towel for my hair. And something to stand on when you get out of the shower.

Must admit I usually hire the linen and maybe take our own swim towels.

pillow cases! doh of course! will make sure I write me a list. and tea towels - check!

I was going to take our camping towels and then a set of slightly more substantial ones. yep I will probably need one for the hair.

Only once did we get linen included when we did mobile home holiday, and it was brilliant. But it's not economical for us to hire 5 sets so every year now I pack a linen bag.
Luckily we drive so at least I don't have to worry about weight!

We're going to Lake Garda in August! staying at Camping del Garda. Have the same issue as you with bed linen. I read lots of reviews that the hired stuff is thin as paper, so I'm taking a fitted sheet, a duvet cover and pillow cases for each bed, and shower/beach towels & tea towels. (and then use the onsite launderette to wash through when they get manky!) Can't wait, never done mobiles in Europe before (never done Italy before!)

Bottom sheet, pillow case, duvet cover for each bed. Tea towels, then as many towels as you think you may need.

I've never done Italy before either 3cats. I haven't been to Europe since 2005 (and never in a mobile - that's only since we've had kids LOL)

I think I will take:
Full size duvet cover + Full size sheet
2 single duvet covers + 2 single sheets
4 pillowcases
waterproof disposable mats
2 full size camping towels
2 kids size camping towels
2 full size 'normal' towels (DH will not cope without a 'real' towel for a week LOL)
1 hand towel (probably will end up as shower mat)
2 hooded towels for the kids
3 Tea Towels

I have no idea what that will weigh but I'm guessing at least one persons baggage allowance (23kg) I will locate the lightest linen from our cupboard!

Oh yes, that sounds like a good list OP; I've never taken bed linen on hols before but it should be ok if split between bags/cases. DCs will have to wear their towels around them on the flight if things get too heavy!! (I like plenty of towels!!) Are you going with Thomson Alfresco??

lynniep · 15/06/2014 22:27

yes going with Thomson Al Fresco. Managed to get a 3 bed mobile for £303 after I used our last tesco vouchers which I thought was a bargain. (Although of course you ring them up and they ask if you want to pay for air con and damage waiver and sheets and....)!
