I think hotels usually tell you it isn't so that you buy the bottled water but thought it was worth double checking on here. TIA.

opinions seem mixed when googling. Some say it is safe but the different minerals can make you ill.

Bottled water is cheap enough to buy from lidl so if you're worried just have that. Whenever I've been we've all drank the tap water and no problems (not in a hotel, so don't know if that makes a difference).

I can't say for Cyrus but I lived in Turkey and everyone drank bottled water there. The water was safe but had a very high mineral content, which made it taste horrible. I would say it was the same for Cyprus.

I live in cyprus. I drink filtered tap water and it hasn't done me any harm. Yes I can vouch that bottled water is cheap all over the place and there are also spring water dispensers on street corners that are even cheaper. About 5 cents a litre.

Yeah the bottled water is dirt cheap so I don't think it's worth the risk x

It's fine. There is no risk from drinking tap water in Cyprus or most other European countries.
I drink the water everywhere unless it is desalinated sea water. Even that won't hurt you it just tastes bad.

Okay - thank you all for getting back to me. We'll be staying in a hotel.

I wouldn't drink the tap water from the bathroom as it may not be straight off the mains.

Honestly for what it costs to buy a 1 litre bottle of water from a supermarket (50 cents in Crete a couple of weeks ago) quite frankly it isn't worth the risk of ruining your holiday.

True.
