Passport replacement - names

Hi

Got myself in a mess with passport application. I have lost my passport - just vanished - don't think stolen, more likely chucked out in error.

Applying for replacement, but my passport has always been in my maiden name even though I've been married 15 years. The last time I renewed it - I renewed in my maiden name. Now I'm wondering - do I have to change to my married name?

Anyone know??

With thanks

No, you do not have to use your married name.

It is easier if you have a single 'legal' name, but there's no reason why it has to be your married name (I never changed my name).

Phew, thank you - I'd already filled out form with maiden name - I don't think I could face doing another one....

Those forms ar a bit daunting, aren't they? But I do see why they need to be very careful in establishing entitlement and issuing accurately.

I sent off DD's renewal recently (and I've had the text so I know they've go it). We don't travel until August, but those long threads on long issuing time are giving me The Fear already.

My passport is still in my maiden name as I haven't renewed since we got married.

DD's passport application forms

Sorry - posted too soon ...

DD's first passport application form included both my maiden and my married names in different sections. It got through check and send at the post office ok but we haven't had the passport yet. I think we sent our marriage certificate. That's a bit annoying tbh. I look forward to only having one official name.
