First family holiday abroad for years how do we decide where to go?

After finally managing to save, we now feel able to afford a holiday abroad this year. This will be our first time for 7 years and I now have 2 teens and a 7 year old so dynamics slightly different than last time. But we cannot decide where to go!! There is just so much choice and of course as its been a long time coming, I want everyone to enjoy it!

The last holiday was an Owners Direct villa in Spain and just organised the flights ourselves. However DP now thinking about all-inclusive which I have no experience of. Can't decide on a destination though. Thinking Europe somewhere, fairly quiet but still having the option of nice restaurants/bar nearby. Flying from Scotland, possibly Newcastle going in October so would still want somewhere fairly sunny.

Finding it all a bit overwhelming with choice really. Would love to hear how you all decide! Do we go with a holiday firm eg Thomsons, First Choice etc or try and book something ourselves again? At the rate we are going I think we are going to end up with nothing!! Could do with some of your top tips for holidays wise Mumsnetters!!

You may find accommodation for 5 a challenge, it may mean booking two interconnecting rooms or a suite which can push price up. The teens may also be priced as adults.
This is one of the times when popping into local travel agent could be very helpful, they can advise on options for family of 5, teen prices and options for flying from local airport. Worth 30 mins of your time. I think people underestimate the value of a chat with a travel agent nowadays!

we are flying from glasgow with thomsons/first choice in october to sharm el sheikh. AI. i know it can be more £ but it was so simply laid out and showed what you were paying for it just made it easier for me. I also used their website to get ideas then priced it on other sites. HTH
