We are going to Birmingham this Saturday to meet swimmer Ellie Simmonds who is doing a book signing. We have the whole day in town. I would love some recommendations of cafes, and places to go beyond the shops!

Think Tank is a fabulous science museum though slightly pricey.
City museum is free and has pieces of the Staffordshire Hoard on display.
New library is amazing!
Or a walk along the canals.

I haven't been yet but DC loved the new library when they went with ILs.

Birmingham Museum is full of interesting stuff. Not sure if the Staffs Gold Hoard is still there, when we were last there you could talk to the people cleaning it and watch them.

Symphony Hall often has free things on in the foyer/cafe.

And they LURVE the sodding Apple Store....

x post - gold still there then!

Assumed so but perhaps better check up on it to avoid disappointment.
