We tend to holiday for a fortnight in Cornwall every year, we love it but obviously the weather can be unpredictable - the accommodation costs around 2k for the fortnight.

Has anyone got any suggestions for alternatives? we need somewhere that is child friendly, on a 'covey' type beach where the Dc's can body board and play, no long transfers, good standards of accommodation and safe in other words a 'Cornwall' with guaranteed sunshine! .... and under 2.5k for a fortnight! .... I'm going to Cornwall again aren't I?!

Brittany or Devon are the other places that spring to mind. Or Dorset.

Thanks selks Smile I should have made myself clearer, we wanted to try going abroad, we just need somewhere that can match up to Cornwall but within our budget!

Costa de la Luz

1000 for 4 flights to Seville
About 1000 for 2 weeks accommodation
Under 500 for 2 weeks car hire.

Lovely tapas. Big sandy beaches.

Kellys Resort Rosslare, Ireland.
You'll never go anywhere else!
I went here as a child, and go back every year for a week now with DH and DCs. It is so safe, the kids just adore it, beach is amazing, and we have a local lady that babysits for us every evening so DH and I can have our dinner in the restaurant and have a glass of wine with friends in the bar. My DCs wouldn't go if she didn't come in the evenings.
A brilliant family holiday in a very old school way, just like I remember. It isn't cheap, we do full board, but it sounds like the kind of thing you may be after?
Rosslare harbour is 5 mins away, so you could get the ferry over?
