Self-catering apartment/villa in Canaries?

We're looking at a week away in February 2007 and consideration of various factors (would like nice weather, not too long a flight) has led us to narrow it down to Tenerife, Lanzarote or Fuerteventura (we think, although do say if we're overlooking something blindingly obvious).

It would be me, DH, and DS (who will be just 2 at the time) and we think we'd prefer somewhere self-catering to a big hotel. Preferably somewhere with parking so that we can hire a car and see something of the island.

Any specific recommendations?

havent been to tenerife but have been to the others so here goes

Lanzarote: Costa Teguise is very nice, quite family orientated and quiet-ish. Small island so easy to get around by car

Fuerteventura: Have been twice first time was lovely but 2nd time we thought it had got a bit tacky (waterpark, Subway, MacD's etc) we stayed in Corralejo which is a nice resort for kids, nice places to eat etc. Havent been to rest of island but heard its lovely.

Lanzarote is fab: smaller areas (Playa Blanca) are best as more choice of non chain restaurants. Flights from Gatwick are £400 for 2 adults/ 2 kid (total), and villas cost £300 pw upwards. Flight is 3 and half hours.
Try owners direct.com or, specifically , Casas Del Sol in Playa Blanca (has it's own website). We go every year (in fact 3-4 times a year): cheap, fab for kids and super beaches and pools.

we have beento costa teguise on Lanzarote 3 times now ..it really works with little ones...top tip make sure the pool is heatred most are not we booked the OasisLanz apts in Teguise thru thompson and they were really nice ...heated pool, well kept, spacious, tennis courts, short stroll to the beach...avoid feb half term oif you can ..we only paid about £1300 all in for 5 of us flights transfers accomodation for a week...if you do go to lanz...the yellow submarinr trip from porto callera marina is brilliant - also that is where all of the decent spanish restaurants are...vocano trip is great day out...island very easy to get around
