Ile de Re - can anyone help?

Hello all,

I've just booked a week in Ile de Re late August/early Sept. We'll be travelling with our 10.5 month old son and just wondered if anyone could help with a few logistical questions!

Getting from La Rochelle to Ile De Re - hoping to take a bus. Does it go from the airport or elsewhere?

If we need taxis, are you able to book any in advance with child car seats? One option is to take our own car seat along with the pram chassis and just using that as a buggy for the week. Do you know if taxis will accept a car seat we bring? I can't imagine there'd be a problem but you never know!

Finally, the same goes for a hire car. We need to drive to a wedding in Cognac - could we take our own car seat? Has anyone else done similar?

Of course, any other tips on travelling with a bubba would be most welcome!

Thanks v much

x

Sorry- I don't know about the car seats. But i don't see why any taxi or car rental place wouldn't let you use your own. Taxis probably don't legally require you to use a car seat - DC sits on your lap. Not ideal, but it's the same here.

airport bus

reading the above link it sounds like yo need a bus from airport into town centre, then bus to Ile de Re.

We always use the same husband/wife taxi as they're so friendly/understand my rubbish French - she's called Beatrice 00 33 546 076 948, I think it's about €25 each way... Tbh the bus is very cheap/frequent too..LOVE IDR....

Thank you both so much! Singapore - will give Beatrice a call, really useful! x
