Flights to egypt

Where is best to book flights to egypt for October 20-27th?

Has anyone also ever just taken everything in the handluggage case if they flew with easy jet to avoid the £62 hold fee? It'll be me and my DS (2) so we'd both get unlimited weight if we can get it all in the little case and avoid weighting to collect the baggage etc.

When is best to book as well?

I doubt very much you'll be able to put a week's worth of stuff for the two of you into hand luggage.

I would book asap; prices tend to rise the nearer you get to departure day and look at other carriers as well (yet another airline who charges a small fortune to store luggage on their planes as well as an £11 admin fee per booking. Stuff that!). Use Skyscanner or some such site to compare costs of other carriers who fly there.

Well the suitcase can be a maximum of 56' x 46' x 25'.

I'd only need
7 x bikini's,
couple of shorts, 7 t-shirts, 7 lots of underwear, hygiene stuff, suntan lotion, hair stuff, shoes.
For my DS i'd only need the same less swimwear ofc!

I won't be able to book for 3/4 months i reckon

You may have an issue with the suntan lotion.

Suntan lotion and liquid hair stuff if its over 100ml will be removed from you if you take those items through security. You would need to buy such items post security.

This is what Easyjet say about bag size:-

"easyJet allows ONE item of cabin baggage per passenger. If you bring ONE piece of cabin baggage no bigger than 50 x 40 x 20cm including handles and wheels, we guarantee it will always travel with you either in the overhead locker or, if necessary, under the seat in front of you.

If you choose to bring ONE bag that is slightly bigger than our guaranteed size but to our maximum allowed size limitations, 56 x 45 x 25cm including handles and wheels, on some busy flights your bag may have to go into the hold".

I would take the hit for a suitcase and put it into the hold rather than trying to squash everything for the two of you into one hand luggage case.

Attilia as I said up thread DS is 2 so on any flight we choose he is classed as an all be a very small and non adult 'adult' so we both get hand luggage. unlimited weight in easyjet's case!

I was planning on using the two maximum sizes and shoving all the stuff that's over 100mls in the hold and then everything that is under in the one i'd carry through security.

you don't need 7 bikinis. You need 2, one on, one washed through last night and drying on the balcony.

you also don't need 7 t-shirts!

thonghangingontheline · 01/06/2014 21:42

I'm going for 7 days. I'm not one of those people who wears the same outfit day in day out that they've sweated in, got sun tan, after sun and aloe vera gel all over either,

I wouldn't wear the same underwear everyday so I'm not going to wear the same bikini I also don't wear the same clothes 7 day's in a row so I won't be doing that in a hot country either Hmm

Slightly confused - you mention sticking things in the hold but also just going hand luggage? Which is it?

thonghangingontheline · 01/06/2014 22:11

Depending on the measurements both patricia. If I go with the larger measurements it still counts as handluggage with easyjet they just stick it in the hold!

Where are you flying to and from?

thonghangingontheline · 01/06/2014 22:44

Flying to Sharm el Sheik from London (any airport)

you don't sound a hand-luggage only person...

I did say that the bikini gets washed through!

thonghangingontheline · 02/06/2014 11:10

I normally fly for 10+ hours for two weeks with 40kg hold luggage and hand luggage. In these circumstances I would take 28 bikini's in case I saw someone with the same one on as me. I know how ridiculous it sounds however it's something i've always done

I begrudge paying the £62 for 20kg hold luggage each if I could squeeze it in however I may have to cave and do it if I can't fit it all in!

Airlines to try:

First Choice from Luton or Gatwick
Thomas Cook from Gatwick
Easyjet from Luton
Thomson Fly from Luton or Gatwick

Monarch also fly direct from Gatwick but not on the dates you want.

My husband and I have gone away for 7 days with only hand luggage. He's low maintenance - he pretty much wore the same thing every day (except underwear). I filled half of his hand luggage with my stuff. It was fine.

The only downside is not being able to take or bring back liquids.

28 bikinis for 14 days? What are the odds of you seeing somebody wearing the same bikini as you every day of your holiday?
Or have misunderstood Confused

thonghangingontheline · 02/06/2014 19:54

I don't know. Just in case can never be to certain though!
