Amalfi Coast

Trying to decide where to stay for our honeymoon. We're currently torn between Amalfi itself, Ravello or Positano.

Has anyone been to any of the above? Which would you recommend?

There is a fabulous little complex half way up the hill from Atrani to Ravello I can't remember the name.

Ravello is fabulous. I would book one night at the Villa Cimbrone. Absolutely out of this world.

Hotel Santa Caterina was fab when we went there for Honeymoon. Food was out of this world and staff so polite and friendly. The lido at the bottom of the cliff is something I will never forget. You teach it by elevator cut out of the cliff and are walked to your lounger by hot young men with a towel and then they wait on you hand and foot.

Mind you that was 15 years ago so maybe they not young or hot anymore.

Ravello us beautiful too, more refined than Amalfi IMO.

Be careful if you haven't driven around that way before, it can be terrifying.

Amalfi, Capri, Ravello, Sorrento, Positano all a hop skip and a jump from each other too. Beach at Amalfi not great and gets v v crowded.

I would go somewhere else like Lucca or Sienna too for part of holiday for a different experience.

Have been to both Ravello and Positano - both equally beautiful! Ravello probably slightly less touristy - when the cruise ships come in Positano can get very busy. But if you stay in Ravello you can easily visit Positano - there's a bus that runs there frequently.

Thanks!

I was hoping someone would come along and say "X place is horrible, go to Y" but that was never going to happen was it Grin

Will check out the hotels mentioned!

We're landing quite late so are spending two nights one day in Naples and will probably do a night in Sorrento towards the end.

I'm very excited, I've managed to get to 25 without ever being to Italy!

If you are feeling rich, this is incredible www.villafiorentino.com/en/romantic_suite_in_positano.php

Unbelievably, I spent my honeymoon there. [pinches self] It wasn't quite so swish 11 years ago - though they did put the pool in between our booking and our arrival.

Antiche mura is a nice hotel in sorrento.

We honeymooned in sorrento, and stayed at the grand hotel aminta, it such a beautiful area and we visited capri, positano, just hopped on and off a boat. Very jealous.
