After nights of no sleep I found this group and has reassured me a little. Due to financial reasons didn't send forms till mid April. We haven't been abroad for 20 years. Mine and husbands are renewals my 10 year olds is a first. I know im stupid but I went to the post office and asked for recorded. Didn't realise about the check and send. I know stupid but can't change it now. The money was taken 1st of May I received a letter to say they needed a full birth certificate for my son not the one I had sent. I got one the same day sent it recorded again. Phoned the 0300 number and told they would be here in plenty of time. Got to last Wednesday no passports! !!!. I phoned again was told may have to go to Liverpool they were waiting for print. Told would get a 48hr call back. Friday 30th a call came from Durham? ?? Told its with them not Liverpool they aren't ready and I couldnt do a fastrack with it being a childs first. Also they weren't recorded till the 15th of May She couldn't help but would mark down our departure date and someone would call me back next week. She said they would do their best.
My mum said try your MP. I phoned and spoke to the Secretary she was lovely and said they would try and help. They have others in the same boat. I have to work all week but luckily my boss will allow me to go to Durham if I need.
Can I have some honest advise?. First of all the best thing to do tomorrow. I have the reg numbers for them. Do I keep ringing or do I wait for MP?. I'm at breaking point. Ive been up all night cant eat and feel sick.
Do you lovely people think I have any chance? Xx

Can completely sympathise....same here-they received 10th may, now saying its in Durham awaiting examination, and could be 10 working days. I could curl up and cry all day, I stupidly booked months ago and we are going on sat 7th!!

There are a couple of threads about passports at the moment so it must be a problem a few people are having. I'll see of I can find the other thread so you can have a read, there's bound to be some advice on it.

I really hope you get them.

Oh no, let's just hope they can get ours sorted! My impression is they are snowed under but staff are very good. I've said I'll do anything even if it involves a bloody 12 hr round drive to Durham to collect! Arghh stressful?!

Lion5711 · 02/06/2014 15:18

Hopefully they are working through them now, i kust had a csll from Colin 0191 370 7356 who has just passed it on for delivery. Really hope yours goes as quick.

Went to Durham Tuesday was there all day but they issued my passports for Saturday. I was asked to take my wedding certificate up and was told would have to go back Wednesday but they kindly stayed behind and got them done for me. MP had pushed it they have a special number and are so helpful. The 0300 number is a total waste of time. Dont believe a word they say. Durham staff amazing genuinely want to help. I cant praise them enough. A big thanks to all on here xxxxxxxxx I didn't have to pay upgrade either because they had had them since April
