I have loved the l'oreal special for kids cream this summer. We live in Germany and most of the summer has been over 36 degrees, and the boys have submitted to it happily, as it rubs in so quickly and easily. Sorry, can't help with the mossie stuff as I use a german brand, but would really recommend a mossie net that fits over travel cot/pram too if you can track one down (ebay?)

Soltan Once. Fabulous. Apply in the morning and tht's it. Although in Antigua I applied it after lunch too and also after long spells in the pool.

We use the Ambre Solaire kids spray spf 30 - kids' skin seems to tolerate it well and it is effective.

the clarins childrens one is the best I've found consistently. it is so thick and you can still see it when they have been in and out of the water many times. it is not cheap but I won't buy anything else now.

The best mosquito repellant that I have used was called Mosquito Milk (I think, it was is a while since I used it) it was in a clear glass bottle similar to a roll-on deodorant. It was quite nice to use as it smelt of lemon balm.

I use Bergaderm on dd2 as we live in W Africa. It's a mousse, goes on v easily, is non-greasy, water and towel-proof and lasts 6hrs. Not cheap at 11.99 a pop but better than anything else I've tried. Sainsbury's stock it.

Mozzie Guard is the repellent that was recommended for dd2 but we rarely use it as the mossies aren't too bad. Hth.

Banana boat suncream - good for sensitive skin too.

could I jsut ask a silly question here. We're off to France on tuesday and we've been told that there are Mosquitos there.

We're taking insect repellent so do I put the suntan lotion on the kids then the insect repellent or the other way round? Or does it not really matter?
have never used insect repellent before you see.

thanks and sorry for slight hijack there.

i use the p20 once a day stuff to know my kids are definitely covered. you can top it up with others if you want. i always put it on them before they go to school etc and its reassuring knowing they wont forget to put it on them. my son is a red head with fair skin so i have to be so careful!
