Get to the eiffel tower early one morning to beat the queues - they really do get extremely long.

If he really wants to go in the louvre, then spend some time researching - decide what he wants to see and get a map and find out where it is. Otherwise you just end up walking miles and miles of corridoors and just getting very tired.

Cruise up the Canal St Martin with Canauxrama was one of the boys' highlights when we went to Paris.

auntyquated · 01/09/2006 19:32

the books look good too

ocd · 01/09/2006 19:39

DSs preferred the Musee d'Orsay to the Louvre (by a long way). They also enjoyed a fairly quick look in the Pompidou Centre, which is free - so a brief pop in is easily justified - and just short walk from Notre Dame if that floats your boat.

Where are you staying?

What else? Arc de Triomphe was also particularly successful - as even amateur 7 yo photographers can get fantastic photographs there.

ocd · 01/09/2006 19:43

when i last went a paris the pomp was shut

The sacre coeur is unmissable, better than the eiffel tower!
also the catacombes.

AvaLou · 01/09/2006 19:45

ooh especially with an 8 year old boy, the catacombes will be fab!

ocd · 01/09/2006 19:46

Lots of fairly mainstream stuff like Kandinski, Picasso, Mondrian, Matisse, etc.

But another floor of more modern work as well.

Children love the building too: long, long escalators on the side of the building in transparent tubes.
