Playing around with the ideal of a short break for my husband & I for his 40th (Sept) Ideas/tips/experience anyone. Just out of interest - child friendly (just in case ..)

I wouldnt take them on the Orient Express, unless they were much older, very well behaved and very appreciative!

It is very much an adults 'treat' of a trip, very smart, posh, speak nicely and quietly!! etc. Staff are very good.

.. at the end of the day it's a train, and you still get the same views rolling by. So go somewhere lovely at the other end, and fly back.

My children are 5.5 and 18 months. I would love just my husband & I to go for maybe a couple of nights, however I don't know if such short trips are available. One or two people we have met on P&O ships have done fly/train/cruise and said the OE is wonderful. So I thought it would be an experience. Hubby is also looking at a short golf break Costa/Algarve in Sept/Oct with 3 of his friends.

You can do short trips Cazhass from one day trips here, or to Venice, perhaps pick it up in Paris after spending a night in Paris maybe? Then fly home from V.

We have been talking about going away on the orient express in the last couple of days... and I have to say there is no way we'd take the children...
