Need Passport Urgently

Please help. I applied for a first british passport accidentally instead of a renewal. I have been told that i had to withdraw that application requesting my old passport back and supporting documents and reapply for a renewal. After losing 72.50 from the original passport i sent the letter of withdrawal requesting my documents back of which they received on the 9/5/14. After calling on the friday after to see the progression of the documents getting back to me i was told i haven't been processed to be withdrawn, they then got someone to call me back within 48 hours. That was over a week ago and after calling back on the 0300 number for 2 days straight, they told me that i will be called back another 48 hours later. I am yet to receive this call. I fly on the 17th June but the holiday company need my passport details 10 days before i fly. I am getting very worried that the incompetance of the 0300 helpline and the call back service is going to ruin my holiday. I am willing to drive to durham or liverpool to get the same day service, but will this be a possibilty without my old passport - surely they will have all my details on the system if i prove my identity in other form? :(

I thought to seek advice from here as i have been reading a very long 2 year thread about a similar topic, however, it would not allow me to comment on that thread.

Guessing your situ is the same as losing your passport ? If I was you I would get up early and go to one of the passport offices tell them the whole story, im sure they will be able to get it sorted for you, take all forms of identification with you.

I agree that you need to physically go tot he passport office to sort it.

I understand you are stressed but I think it's rather unfair of you to say "incompetance of the 0300 helpline and the call back service is going to ruin my holiday" when it was you who made the mistake in the first place and the passport office very clearly say not to book a holiday without already having a valid passport.

I'd also contact whoever it is saying you need your passport number 10 days before to explain, hopefully they can be flexible.

It's not the same as loosing a passport... You can only have one passport application in the system at a time, so you can't turn up and apply for another passport until they've processed your withdrawal.

Can you find out which office your passport is at now? couple of other people on these threads have had luck having their MP ring the passport office directly...

You do still have time so I'd keep harassing them on the phone.

I do believe the 0300 helpline are incompetant and the fact that i have had 2 48hr call back requests and haven't received either is incompetance and is delaying my withdrawal being proccessed.

I don't have my supporting documents as they got sent with the original application.

Thanks for the advice though i am going to keep trying i just found how helpful the other thread was for other people having problems and thought advice from people who have been in the same situations may help.

How would i get in touch with my MP?

Don't just rune up to the passport office. I went to liverpool recently and they don't just let you in! It's will be a waste of time. Getting in alone is intense because of security etc and even then you will only get a brief chat with someone on the desk. Any queries and they direct you to a phone which put you through to the 0300 number!

Wait for docs to come back, even if a month, you should en be able to book a one day premium for renewal. It can take time for appointment, so book one now for say 3 weeks off so you know you're all sorted. That's what I did.

Sorry read June as July! Book a premium appointment now for week before you go...it'll b okay I'm sure.
