Anyone recommend any child friendly places in NZ, preferably South Island.
We have 2 kids under 10 years.

You don't say exactly where you'll be, but most of NZ is pretty kid-friendly. If you're in Christchurch, try Willowbank or Orana Park (both wildlife centres) or the Antarctic Centre out by the airport. The gondola ride up the Port Hills is pretty exciting for kids, too. Also try Hanmer Springs as a great day trip from ChCh. If you are there in summer then anywhere around the Marlborough Sounds or Golden Bay is fantastic for holidaying with kids - great beaches etc
