Urgent child passport renewal

Help!! Travelling to Crete on Sunday morning and just checked passports only to discover that my 6-year-old's one expired in April. Can't get through to the passport office on the phone but from what I can work out online they no longer offer a quick turnaround renewal for children's passports. Does anyone have any recent experience of this? Do you think they might do it if I go along and beg? I live near Peterborough so it's no problem going into the passport office there. Any info gratefully received. Can't bear the thought of having to cancel our holiday. It's me, my two boys and my mum. They're going to be SO disappointed if we have to cancel and of course the insurance won't cover it because it's all my fault :(

We had similar last year but with a bit more time. We were able to get an appointment and go up with the application in the day and collect it a few hours later, but we are close to London and went there. Fingers crossed you can get an appointment.

Help, just typing in Advanced passenger information and my daughters passport expired yesterday and we travel on Friday, has anyone had any experience of urgently getting a passport renewal

Unfortunately they don't do 1 day turnaround for a child's renewal anymore, they will only do 7 days, and you will have to attend a passport office to get it done too. My advice would be to ring the instant the phone line opens in the morning and keep calling in the hope a cancellation comes up. You won't get an appointment in time any other way I'm afraid Sad the number is 0300 222 0000

I wish you lots of luck, unfortunately I speak from bitter experience. My 6 year old DD's passport ran out last year and when I went to renew it last month we had three weeks before we travelled to get a new one, when I rang the passport advice line and the only appointment I could get within the week was at Durham (I live in SE so not very helpful!) I got an appointment in London a week and a half later and that was the first one available, it was exactly a week before we travelled. It was nerve wracking to say the least, but the passport turned up at 7.30pm on the 6th day of the 7 day deadline. It was a hideous wait I didn't sleep. Best of luck.
