we went to fairviewfarm ... North Devon

would recommend if you have young kids

  • small and bijou but clean and really everything you could need in cottage (tv and dvd player too)
  • fridge didn't seem to keep stuff so cool
  • great play area for kids - field with trampoline etc and play barn which had rusty old bikes but a sand pit .. playhouse
  • good location .. 10 mins drive to beach .. lots of stuff within an hour's drive

would definitely go again .. but don't tend to go back once been ..

please share your gems

Nice idea for a thread! We came back 2 weeks ago from nr Pisa where we had an excellent holiday at an agriturismo called Il Chiassetto, near Cascina, close to Pisa.

There are a number of appartments, and whilst we were there they had German, French and Italians in + a lovely pool. The wonderful owner, Graziella, does a dinner once a week for a reasonable rate, which was excellent. She loved the children, and couldn't do enough for them, bringing round home made biscuits, bread and spaghetti sauce. And when I asked her where there was a good cake shop, because it was DD1's birthday, she said "leave it with me". I thought she would buy one, and I'd pay her back [but my Italian isn't terrific], instead, she turned up on the doorstep of the flat in the morning of DD's b'day, with a home made, fruit covered, birthday flan, and sang Happy Birthday in Italian for DD1. Who was thrilled.

Then she recommended a little place called Green Park, which was about 3 miles away, and had a mini fairground in it, so DD1 got to ride in bumper boats, trampoline, fire soft balls at us using an air pressured bazooka etc etc, and generally had a fab time.

Oh, sigh, long time till next year!

Milton Bank Cottage, Rogart Sutherland Scotalnd. Fantastic place. Owners would get you fresh salmon and strawberries to die for, from Bonar Bridge. Wonderful part of the world. Dornoch and it's gorgeous beach about 10 mins drive away. And for the Whisky lovers Brora and the Clyneish (sp) distillery just down the road.

I was looking for a week away during the October halfterm, it annoys me so much that they put the prices up.

PLEASE can everyone give a thought to disabled access when making their responses?

then I can make a wishlist too...

we stayed here , by the way, which was a bit out of the way but lovely and had disabled shower and access ramps and big garden for kids to go mad in. Also child-friendly tour round farm with friendly farmer.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for Italy, we are looking for accomadation to rent for two weeks that would be suitable for 3 families / 4 bedrooms, possibly in Tuscanny or La Marche in Italy. Would like to be near a town and the coast but open to recommendations.
