Caribbean in the school summer holidays - good or bad idea?

So we are looking at holidays for next summer as this will be the first year we are tied to school holidays, having looked at the all inclusive luxury resorts in the med and then the Caribbean I would prefer to spend the money on going somewhere I didn't go on an 18-30 holiday!

Is the weather going to be awful in early August?

Any tips/recommendations for where to go?

No it will be lovely and hot. It will also be very humid & you will probably get some heavy rain showers.

We've done it loads. There's an occasional hot, wet shower then all back to normal. It can be very humid so definitely pick somewhere with AC in the bedrooms.

It will be lovely. We did first two weeks of august for last three years and only had a rainy shower once! Can be humid, though Aruba seems to benefit from a constant breeze so not a problem.

Done this several times. Yes, you may get rain, but it will be sudden downpours, then minutes later sun out and everything dries up again. Certainly not enough to spoil a holiday!! :-)

We've been twice in August (Jamaica and Dom Republic) and both times for the whole of the second week it rained continuously and the third week (although we were home by then), there were hurricane warnings.Check very carefully where to go.
