Have posted this in longhaul too, as not sure where the boundary is!!

We went to Florida this year and it was fab - really want to go somewhere warm enough for the kids to play in outdoor pools or the beach or whatever. Probably self-catering with a hire car, as we're more of a 'go and do things' type, than a hotel pool type I think. So, where have you been? Where would you recommend?

Florida is probably the cheapest long haul. How many of you are there? We usually spend this per person! Sorry! Is Thailand inexpensive? Turkey? Cyprus? Crete? Not long haul but maybe in budget.

Ah, missed that bit out - it's for 2 adults, 2 boys 8&9. I did go to a travel agents (it's a small town so no choice) and he was bloody useless - just kept wittering on about ice-creams and beer, and wouldn't listen to what we actually wanted.

Call a travel agent in another town - I always book my own travel independently but for this hol actually went into an agency. It was great - ended up booking a hotel a member of staff had stayed in. (Only off tomorrow so can't comment on exactly how it was.) An agent should be helping you. Try again - unless you get a fan recommendation from a mum here.
