Totally unrealistic, or potentially doable?

Haven't booked anywhere for the summer yet - we are a family of 4 - me, DH, DD (7) and DS (10). Things are tighter than usual this year, and we will have a budget of £2.5K. I would like to go to somewhere like: Portugal, Greek island, Gozo, Croatia (although we were there last year), Italy, Corsica, Spain - basically hot Europe. We like sandy beaches, pools, places to explore, people-watching. Not keen on organised entertainment particularly, but OK as long as it's not tacksville Smile We've done Keycamp before and enjoyed that, but I've got this idea that we'll be able to snap up a last-minute bargain to a 4* hotel for a couple of weeks Hmm. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or does this just sound hopeless? TIA

Yesterday's Sunday Times had a 3 page feature in the travel section of Med holidays for £500 for a week. Greece & Sardinia both featured as well as other places.

Sadly my copy went out with the recycling collection tomorrow but you might find one in a library.

Turkey is very good value atm as the £ to Lira is very good.

today not tomorrow or I'd have rescued it!

Ah, great, thank you - I'll see if I can source a copy!

When I was searching my budget was 2k for 2 adults and 2 teens.
I found that flying to Faro was cheap and accommodation was very reasonable. About £500 per week for a villa or apartment on the algarve.
Porto is also very reasonable.
Italy and Greece were the most expensive.

Thank you. Has anyone been to Lagos or Carvoeiro, Portugal?

I've been to carvoeiro about 9 years ago. It was a really nice place.
About an hour from Faro. Lovely little harbour and beach.
We went to some amazing beaches nearby and met the friendliest people I've ever encountered on a holiday.
Maybe the fact we had a young cute baby made a difference!

I would go back there. It's definitely a family town rather than a lively town

Easily doable- here is a 2 bedroomed villa in turkey for two weeks in August including flights for £1834.
