I went to Dahab a few years ago, i believe it's changed a lot since then. I took a bus from Sharm el Sheikh to meet some friends and just spent the time there on the beach and doing water sports etc.. It was lovely and quiet, really peaceful and serene, but that was a few years ago. I can give you the link to a good forum you can post a msg on if you like where you'll get some honest replies about Dahab now and other info regarding Egypt.
