for me it would be

  1. lots to see/do for us and dcs
  2. exploring new places
  3. having lovely food (cooked for you)
  4. decent weather- not necessarily boiling, just no torrential rain.

bottom of wishlist would be
sunbathing/flopping by pool all day every/shopping

That would be my list too, but I do like spot of lounging by the pool as well. I like a holiday that allows me to have both active days and resting days otherwise I come home as tired as when I left.

nothing to see or do just do nothing.
food wine sun
nice people, friendly, happy place.

  1. Organised sporting activity for DS, must include football
  2. Other families so DD can make a friend, pool useful for this
  3. Interesting area so we can get about in a hire car to relieve boredom of 1 & 2
  4. Good mix of restaurants in vicinity
  5. Sun but not stupidly hot

(Without 1. The holiday is ruined by a perma whinging child)

Sun, sea & swimming pool
A pretty, traditional resort, not too big but not dead
Interesting places to visit round and about
Good food
History & culture

Luckily that is exactly what we are doing this year Smile

Jbck · 06/05/2014 10:23

Mine would be the same as Sootica's so I want to know where she is going?

curiousgeorgie · 06/05/2014 10:24

That my DD's have a brilliant time..

Washing machine available
Separate "room" for the DC (can be sliding partition rather than an actual wall)
No dangerous steps in the room/between sections of the room
Some form of childcare/kids' club so I get some downtime
Enough sun loungers
Close to a beach with gently shelving sand & small waves (big enough to jump over; not big enough to knock you over)
Close to villages/towns with a variety of things to do, restaurants to go to etc, ideally ones which serve half portions of things on the menu rather than just offer fishfingers, pasta & tomato sauce & similar for the DC.

PortofinoRevisited · 06/05/2014 18:34

Sunshine but not mega roasting
Swimming pool
Wifi
Washing machine
Stuff to do/nice places to eat without having to drive for miles.
friends for dd
Nice outdoor space/BBQ

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 07/05/2014 16:50

Somewhere amazing and exciting.

Eg whale watching off Antarctica, or trekking to Everest, or a road trip across Vietnam.

Not sure the rest of my family would agree though and I certainly can't afford it, so it's a uk camping trip.
Which will be fab Smile

MrsRuffdiamond · 08/05/2014 00:14

Has to be a Villa/ cottage somewhere lovely with private pool.

The dc love a pool, and I need it to be private, so I can practice my flailing around swimming without being Blush

I taught myself to swim 2 yrs ago on holiday, and would never have been able to use armbands, floats etc. in a shared pool without feeling like a complete numpty!

Nocomet · 08/05/2014 01:05

Huge pool, water park, good beach, preferably with rocky bits (to attract fish for interesting snorkelling), no jelly fish!
Some shade to read a book in is good. Can't sunbath, burn instantly, but love swimming outdoors. Sea preferably, but DD2 prefers the pool.

Quick, sensibly priced, nice interesting food.
Friendly bars for a quiet drink in the evening. Bike hire, riding, boat trips, something to break up the week.

Nocomet · 08/05/2014 01:06

Dad sailed, DH was brought up by the sea. Both DDs are fish.
