Right.

Silly me to be having a baby in 5 weeks time!

Have 12 year old and 8 year old and by next summer 10 month old - God willing.

Now - the iNternet - is it just full of lazy people who think we are all androids and will blow up if we try and add a family of 5 to book online somewhere? One of whom is a child but technically over child age?

And is it so hard to want a newish apartment/hotel, pref menorca, with baby facilities and a bloody tennis court so I can get my lardy a*se back in some kind of shape. But one that isnt run by a filthy pig with green slime for a pool.

RAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

And breathe.............

not anywhere to recommend in Menorca but we foudn it hard even with a fmaily of 4 to get family accommodation. It is cheaper to book direct(you pay per apartment then food on top if you choose half board/all inclusive) and get a 1 or 2 bed apartment. Last time we went to the Prinsotel La Dorada nr Alcudia in Majorca but it does n't have a tennis court. They are part of a chain though so you may find a related complex with one here - they are also in Menorca. Have also stayed at a Barcelo hotel which was similar accommodation and they have 2 on Menorca.

Something like this?

sugarfree · 26/08/2006 16:40

It's a total nightmare,we're in the same boat with kids of,12,6 and 2.
Some holiday companies class 12 as an adult (Virgin for one) so that's the price through the roof straight away, then trying to get a room for all of us...well,nigh on impossible.
We've taken to booking two rooms now and specifying that they are as close together as possible. We did that in Rome this year and although we didn't have neighbouring rooms it was fine.
It is possible to find rooms which take 4 plus a cot so you should be able to do that for the next couple of years.

Sorry. Am calmer now. Have just eaten half a bag of crushed ice (whats that craving all about then?)

Thank you for your ideas and suggestions.

We did consider a villa/house - but I think that ends up being no holiday for me at all. You end up cleaning as much as when you are at home and I really would like some kind of activities/entertainment. Now I feel guilty for wanting that - hardly mum of the year material.

I'd consider a resort, like Pierre et Vacances. The Cap Esterel one has a baby club, and loads of activities for kids of all ages.

We are a family of 5(DStwins nearly 8 and stepDD 12),since we've had the children,we have always gone to villas/apartments booked over the internet,we just couldn't afford to go on holiday otherwise.
I know you have said it wouldn't be a holiday for you,but I found it much easier s/c when the boys were smaller,it might be easier with a baby.
I know I would have gone mad couped up in a hotel room with all of them.Plus,I wouldn't have been without a washing mashine when the boys were babies.
After all you don't have to cook much, just a bit of breakfast, plus you'll save a fortune being able to make your own picnics for outings.

sugarfree · 26/08/2006 18:19

I personally would rather go all-inclusive once every 5 years than self catering every year.
It's ONLY breakfast, and it's ONLY picnics EVERY day is what I do at home in my own kitchen, not on holiday.
There's still washing up,picking wet towels up,cleaning on the last day etc etc.

(We do go camping and stuff,I'm talking about main holidays.)

sugarfree · 26/08/2006 18:20

Oh and we're never in the room(s) long enough to feel couped up.
