or a sandy beach in south Devon that would be good on a potentially cold but dry day, we haven't had many so far this week Sad and dc have animal overload and steam railway excess!

Yes it's lovely. Expensive but nice for a wander. You can go crabbing off the harbour wall. A boat trip would be good.

Dartmouth also great.

Where are you staying?

SweepTheHalls · 29/04/2014 20:50

The one nearest the town is lovely, with a great pub Grin

Sandy beach - Bigbury or Bantham. Both perfect.

Ewieindwie1 · 29/04/2014 20:53

Was there last week - ace! Lots of sandy beaches and you can walk over to beach cafe called The Winking Prawn. Salcombe very busy with traffic - better after Easter?

Ewieindwie1 · 29/04/2014 20:57

Thurlestone nice too, Bantham lovely and always worth trip to Bigbury. Park at £3 car park 100 yards from beach - cheaper than exorbitant one further down. There's a nice Venus cafe too. You are going to have such a lovely time! Dartmouth great too x

Walk over to Burgh Island at Bigbury.

sacbina · 29/04/2014 21:07

staying at bigbury in July, as we did last summer, so don't want to repeat tooo much.

we're at Knowle farm. went to salcombe briefly the other day, traffic not too bad, but it is wet and windy! dd wanted to go on a boat but we didn't have time so wondered if we could combine it with some time on a beach for ds to do some digging Grin

where is best to park then. we stopped at one by the harbour opposite a pub that advertised a children's play area in the garden

Love Salcombe :) But have never been on a boat trip there

Ferry Inn, down the steps, boat across to the beach on the other side or longer trip to South Sands. Parking a nightmare but pretty small town.

thanks for all your help. in the end we went to north sands beach and had a fabulous time. clouds parted for some much needed sunshine and the dcs even got stripped off and paddled in the rock pools. didn't have time for the ride in the end
thank you Smile
