What temperature for a sun holiday?

If you were booking a holiday where you wanted to spend most of your time in a bikini, by the pool, what minimum temperature would you require?

Sister and I are booking, she insists 20-22 is fine, I think over 25 C.

Definitely over 25c, I would rather it be 30c, I love hot sunny weather

It doesn't really matter what other people think, as it's personal preference. You'll need to find somewhere that you both can live with...

I think over 25. Dh reckons 22 is fine - brrrr. We are looking for a half term sun holiday at the moment and I am refusing to look at anywhere with under 25 as a May average. If the pool's too cold the dcs will be seriously fed-up.

be aware that many pools are unheated (energy waste) and will not be that warm in late May.

the sea is usually warmer and a lot cleaner.

very strong UV at that time so rashies, board shorts and slap on the suncream!

ThisIsYourSong it's not so much that we disagree, it's more that we can't remember how hot 20/25 is It seems most people are agreeing with me then. I'm pretty sure I remember it needing to be over 25 before I get the flip flops out normally

20-22 degrees is too cold for a bikini for me. I would be in T-shirts and shorts/jeans.
25-30 degrees is perfect weather for a sun holiday IMO.

We seem to be a warm blooded family as we all like it to be over 30 but would be in swimwear at 22 plus - I think most people however would want at least 25 getting to 28 at midday to be on a lounger in a bikini.

20-22 is too cold. Also consider the evening temperature. A daytime max of 22 degrees would probably drop to 15 degrees in the evening, too cold to sit outside in light clothing.

One of the pleasure of a warm holiday is al fresco dining in the evening, I would want a minimum of 23 degrees at 9pm, so daytimes would have to be 30 or so,

I'm going against the grain - 22 plenty warm enough for me as long as it's sunny

25 and over definitely

The uk is often around 20 at beginning of summer and that's still thin cardigan and Jeans weather to me. 25 is dress with no tights. 28-30 is by pool.

Bare in mind if its a windy place ie the canaries then you want it to be hotter as the wind will feel cooler

An average of 25 and upwards for me. We go away every May and have have had temps as high as 42.

We went to Fuerteventura a couple of years ago in May and despite the wind, the heat was intense and stifling. In fact it got too hot to sit out as you could feel your skin burning after 10 minutes, Not to mention the feeling of not being able to breath. So don't let the wind fool you!

Off to Lanzarote next week so hopefully will be a bit more of a pleasant experience!!

Lived in Spain for 8 years - DH & I decided anything over 20 pleasant if the sun is out, 28 degrees was the perfect temperature. Over 35 starts to become too hot for doing much and 40 plus is bloody awful. The drier the heat the hotter I can stand.

It's 27 here today and it's perfect but still too cold for me to swim!

It would need to be 25+ for bikini weather for me ( actually no weather is suitable for my body in a bikini at the minute ). We like the temperature around 28-32 which is what it generally is in Tenerife in October, most summer destinations far too hot for us.
