Planning to go for three weeks, our son is 10. We have travelled a lot in India and Thailand, so confident travellers. Any advice on where to go or what to avoid? Thank you

Hanoi is really interesting with great museums and fab food, lots of little streets to wander around. Ho Chi Minh has some great sights, but traffic was horrendous. The tunnels are worth a day trip.

Thanks, we have booked flights to Bangkok, and are thinking of beach for 4/5 days then flight from Phuket to Ho Chi Minh. The north sounds colder in December.

Have been to Hanoi in December and weather was nice and warm, but you are right warmer still in Hcm city.
Think you son would enjoy the tunnels. I took ds there when he was 9 and I think he was the only person in the group small enough to enter the original tunnels! If you are going to Phuket would recommend the north of the island. Nai yang beach is nice with lots of little restaurants on the beach.
