Dh wants to book a holiday in early Nov and I haven't even delivered yet. Can't seem to make him see the difference to our present life, how early has anyone else travelled shorthaul or knows the rules concerning immunizations etc.?

I have travelled to USA at 7.5 wks, it depends on your destination and the airline you use.

i went to spain when my baby was 5 weeks but if i had gone over he would have only been about 10 days.

btw when travelling shorthaul baby can travel at 7 days old, but mum cannot travel til 14 days after giving birth - bizarre!!there are no rules regarding immunization AFAIK

I think I would wait and see how you get on with a lo before you book any holidays.

My dd was due at the end of June and so we didn't plan a holiday at all this year but in the end she was born prem at the start of May. She is now fine and we really wanted a holiday after all the stress so we are going away at the end of Sept. I'm really looking forward to it now but if someone had suggested it when I was preg I would have thought they were mad tbh .

When are you due ? The airlines each seem to have their own regulations and these can vary if you have a c-section or baby is early or has a breathing problem. No fixed rules as far as immunisatison etc afaik. We waited until dd was around 11/12 weeks and had had one load of immunisations also allowing time to process her birth registration and passport (we lived abroad at the time so several different agencies involved).

Thanks girls really useful info but plans shot out of water by emergency c sec at about 42+5 weeks and dd with tiny ear canals so not risking pressure changes for her yet. Midwife did suggest 3months for short haul after her second lot of jabs.
