No bassinet seat on BA to Australia - premium economy waste of money

Has anyone else booked a bassinet seat only to find that when they board the plane they are now seated without a bassinet?

I recently flew to Sydney via Singapore on BA premium economy. Don't waste your money. I booked it so that I would have more room to breast feed. The ticket was double the price of an economy seat ticket.

Reasons not to book premium economy:

  1. the seats are not that much bigger than the economy seats
  2. there are no arm rests so you cannot move the seats together with your other half
  3. there are only two bassinet seats in premium economy class and they over book the seats. You have a much greater chance of being bumped off your bassinet seat
  4. the cabin class is much smaller so much more unlikely to have a seat next to you free

Overall very disappointed with BA.

As a customer on aeroplanes, we all seem to have accepted lower standards for the same or more money. I think all the people on this thread have made some very valid points, but they all highlight the poor service you can expect on aeroplanes.

Overbooking, routine seating of small children away from parents, no guarantees on reserved or booked seats. Obviously there might be operational reasons for changes but more often than not it is either poor company policy screwing the customer or poor customer service. This means customers are paying a lot of money with no guarantees meaning stress and additional problems for both customers and staff.

BA are mainly interested in corporate customers and keeping them happy.

Pooli, your post was very helpful. I'm traveling with twins on a 12 hr flight and in the planning stage. It's good to know that bassinets aren't guaranteed and that pe might not be worth the money I initially thought. I'm glad you posted your message and really sorry that most ppl here have been quite condescending.

Pooli, all of your points in your OP would have been established if you'd researched.

Bulkhead seats, even in economy do not lift.

When it comes to travel you have to research, even with young children. You can never be guaranteed a bassinet.
