Transfers though Houston

Anybody done this and is it as bad as all the review say . I mean as a transit passenger .
Especially during August , but at any time really.
Thought 3:45 hours/ minutes would be plenty of time . Not according to loads of reviews.

Much better than Miami from what I have heard.

An hour is the minimum for getting through immigration in my experience. Would leave it longer to be safe. Plus there are the other transfer processes.

I leave 4 hrs between flights. Leaves me time for the first flight to run late. If I have spare time I go for a nice meal in one of the restaurants. There is a good seafood one, can't remember name off the top of my head.

If you have kids or space fans in the group, there is a NASA shop ....

Last time I flew through Houston my first flight arrived about an hour and a half late and I ended up running through the terminal to get to the gate for the second flight just before it closed. Nightmare. That was with about a three and a half hour gap.
