We have a 3 year old and 8 month old and looking at a week away in August. We'd like something budget and child friendly. The last couple of years we have hired a villa in Praia da Luz, Portugal which has been great with the little ones. Can you recommend other destinations/resorts for a young family on a bit of a tighter budget this year please?

Not sure what you will have paid for Portugal, but we hired a caravan in France, Brittany. Lots of lovely beaches, food and our own car so could easily transport our own gear. Gites are also a possibility. Cornwall would be cheaper if you don't mind the UK.

Jersey? lovely beaches, nice gardens, tea rooms, little farms, shell garden- all sorts to keep your dc amused.
It's really easy to get around and reasonably priced too.
we stayed at the Merton - it has an indoor and outdoor pool with a few tame slides, nice food, kids club-not sure what age.
also august has the flower parade which was lovely.

meant to add we've been twice in august and weather was great, but not boiling -low to mid 20s.

oh yeah and the week of the flower parade - battle of the flowers? was more expensive
