Car Seats when travelling by Taxi

Okay a mad question but I wondered what everyone does. i am about to travel to the states with a little one and will need to get a taxi from the airport to the hotel.

What do you do? Request a car seat? take one with you? travel without a car seat?

How old is your little one? When ds1 was tiny, I put him in the papoose, and put the seatbelt around just me, upon the advice of our local poilce station (after they'd thought about it for a few hours then called me back!). I'm sure some cab firms must have seats though. or how about a very lightweight one. ds1 has a £35 one from Argos now (stage 2), and its very light to carry. We dont have a car, but use it for friends cars.

I have got yellow cabs over there without a seat - not ideal

Info above for JFK

You might be able to get a limo/private car and book a car seat - never tried it myself
