things to do in and around Pagham

I know I've left this rather late but we are off to Pagham tomorrow morning (me, DS aged 5 and dd aged 17 months) for the rest of the week and the forecast isn't good .
We've never been before so any recommendations for things to do would be great.

TIA

When I was a little girl (long long ago) we used to holiday around that area. We used to go to Hotham Park and there was a little train ride round the park, also there were red squirrels. I don't know if it's still the same there though. I'm probably talking about the 'olden days'

excellent anorak. It's still there (according to the website) and still has a minature railway. DS will be in his element.
thank you

No the train isn't in Hotham Park any more - it was taken over by a new operator who transformed it into some hideous character ride, was asked to leave after H&S probs and took all the track with him! There's a good playground there now though, installed a couple of years ago.

How far from Pagham can you travel? I live a mile down the road. Bank Hol Monday there's a teddy bear's picnic at Amberley Working Museum (about 10 miles away) and children get in free if they bring a bear. Wednesdays there's activity days at the Weald and Downland museum (old buildings rebuilt in huge open spaces with farm animals and special event things like face painting/candle making).

Amusements on the pier? Are you staying at Butlins? There is quite a lot to do in or out of doors at Butlins (swimming, rides etc) and you can get a day pass if you are not guests there.

Otherwise I would drive to Chichester and do some shopping or look round the cathedral, go to the Roman villa at Fishbourne, erm

am drawing a blank despite living there for 18 years

There must be a local 'shotting gallery' surely?

I must have missed the bit where mckenzie said she was looking for hard drugs

Panboy · 21/08/2006 22:39

Really! I thought all of her message was in a sort of code...

Or, if DS is into planes etc there's Tangmere Military Aviation Museum.
