La Rochelle

Anybody been to La Rochelle? Recommend it? We are still planning our summer holiday and will be very grateful for any tips on this area

Apparantly has a v warm micro climate! That's all I know

I want to go there, I haven't been but have wanted to go for years. Also the Ile de Re, just off the coast, that's where all the fashionable Parisians go it looks beautiful.

Beaches in that area are lovely. There is an extremely nice zoo in Royan. La Rochelle itself is a very pretty old town, with nice shopping and lovely pavement cafes and a nice marina.

We stayed a bit further up the coast near one of the beaches - but can't remember what is was called.

The Il de Re is indeed very beautiful but very busy with traffic in teh high season.

Hmmmmmm will think a bit more and add anything else I remember!

I stayed in Archachon which isn't far (I think).
Lovley part of the world.
Have a lovley time.

We camped there btw as the campsites are out of this world. I was 6.5 months pregnant at the time.
