Some passport advise?

Hello there. I was reading on this website and see some of you's have a fair bit of experience with passport issues.

Let me firstly explain my situation.

  1. It's a renewal from a child to an adult.

So basically I filled it out online, they sent on the app, I signed it and sent it back via 1st class recorded. It arrived the next day at the "newport passport office" and was signed for... Around 9 days later the money left my bank account and all this was done mid march. Now the reason why I'm starting to worry is because a couple of weeks before we renewed our daughters and it was a really quick turnaround.

I called the passport 0300 number like 10 times yesterday and they were all the same... Telling me I should of kept the barcode number but I've never renewed one before so I wasn't particularly aware of this. Surely they don't just rely on a number to find out where my sons passport is? They all told me they can't do nothing but that just baffles me that a document as important as this and they "can't do nothing"

So can anyone give me some advice or tell me what I should do in this situation?

We don't travel till August but I'm still worried that worst may come to the worst. P.S I always fear the worst and he is the only passport we need and we have no way of finding out what's going on with it supposedly although they've took the money.

Hi Stewart,

I had some mega passport issues recently, and got some helpful advice here... Basically if there is something wrong with the application such that it can't be processed, they will write to you. This letter will contain the barcode / ref number for future tracking purposes (this is how we got it, as we did not keep a copy of it either...)

If you filled it in online and sent it recorded, it all sounds good already! I do know that the passport offices are unseasonably busy at the mo and everything is taking a fair bit of time, but orbit was signed for mid march and you haven't had a letter saying there are any issues, I think you should be fine.

Posters on my thread said that the money coming out was a good thing, and passports followed shortly after, although I can't comment on that as we paid by postal order.

Worst case scenario, you should be able to upgrade it to a one week or one day turnaround (eg if there was something wrong with the initial application) but it sounds like their is no problem and you should get it really soon!!

Thanks for the response! Really appreciate it.... I hope it will be here soon!

One thing; How would I go about doing this as we already have it in the systems "Worst case scenario, you should be able to upgrade it to a one week or one day turnaround "

They told me they can't track it so how would I get them to put it onto an upgrade (at a cost of course)

I would not worry unduly about this because you have given it plenty of time so give it another week or so.

I asked the Passport Office about such renewals the other day; usually such things take around 3 or so weeks to process.

You would get the tracking number if they wrote to tell you the application was somehow incomplete or had a problem, from here you could send the correct info to join up with the existing application and upgrade it from there (as you will have the tracking number on the letter). If you haven't received such a letter, there is no problem with your application and as such it will be turned around in max 4-6 weeks from initial application, so no need to fast tack it, as it should be here any day now!

HTH?

I need help! I have booked to visit my family in America on 25th of April. I have been ringing everyone tells me different things, say they can't put me through! Everything is done via email. I am panicking! I keep getting you will receive a cal back in 48 hours. It's bank holiday my passport is in the Glasgow office I think.

I have no hope that I am going to get my passport back in time!!! I am whiling to pay whatever. They received my passport on the 31st March.

Has anyone got a direct number or even get a call back?
