Keep an eye out; there's always vouchers for free child entry in local papers, tourist info etc.

Paradise Wildlife park in Broxbourne Herts. Thats good. Not too big and has loads of playground type things too. They have a website but don't know how to do links.

Tropical Wings near South Woodham Ferrers is really nice, although maybe a bit far for you. Lots of chances to feed wallabies, hold snakes, meet parrots, mini beast hunt etc. As well as just looking around, there is an activity or display every hour, there are also 2 well equipped play areas and a room for doing colouring and drawing. I took my 5,4 and 1 year old last week and they all loved it.

hi, weve been to the farm nr there, but i hate butterflies, so its put me off!!!

Actually, you don't need to go in the butterfly bit, the rest is mainly outdoors and the demonstrations/displays are a mixture of in and outdoors. We didn't stay long in the butterfly bit as it was too hot.

Paradise park is good

hayes hill farm (on crooked mile between waltham abbey & harlow) is ok, in summer have tractor ride to see cows being milked in the pm and loads of play stuff.

but willows is bigger but more expensive

or pets corner in harlow town park is free and fun!

Colcheser Zoo is brill and there are quite a few baby animals to look at at the mo (a baby wolf & a couple of baby goats to name 2) They have lots to do for kids and there is a "Familiar Friends" area where you can stroke and play with the animals. They also have pigs from "Jimmy's Famr" there including loads of piglets

Sorry, bit of an enthusiast here - I love the zoo and live in Colchester so we go loads!

Paradise Park is good (if a little pricey). Its in Hertford/hoddesdon off the A10.

Jasnem · 23/08/2006 17:41

Hayes Hill farm is great for very little ones, and less expensive than Willows.

You can use Tesco days out vouchers to pay for Paradise Park. It's worth it then (equivalent to paying 1/4 entrance)
