Never ever been, looking for nice beaches, OR countryside, maybe an element of cafe culture, bit of history, and not too far from nearest airport.

Two adults, no DCs.

Clew Bay, County Mayo. It's near Westport

West Cork and Kerry are lovely for countryside, touring different towns and villages etc. the Ring of Kerry is lovely. Very pretty, green, quite touristy but lovely. Kenmare is touristy but nice, quite chi-chi for Ireland...also Glengarriff, Dingle, Bantry, Skibereen...lots of nice places to go.

Galway and Clare (Connemara) are rugged, wild and beautifully scenic. Galway City is a nice place. Again, touristy, but nice places to eat and pubs.

Wicklow is pretty, mountains and lush green landscape, very close to Dublin.

Kinsale in Cork is definitely worth a visit for the pubs and cafes - got a lovely continental feel. If you go, make sure you visit the Spaniard!
